As a mandated reporter, you are responsible for calling Child Protective Services if you suspect a child in your care is experiencing any form of abuse or neglect. But studies show that fewer than 12% of professionals ever make a report, and many report that they never have reported their suspicions, even when they were certain abuse or neglect was going on. In this workshop, we’ll think through the realities of child abuse and neglect and also the complicated emotions we have about being a mandated reporter. We’ll realize the importance of this role and our responsibility to stand up for abused children.
